It’s finally autumn! Otherwise known as Pumpkin Spice Season. Everyone is swooning over their pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin everything. Yep including me! There is just something delightful and cozy about products made with pumpkin and warm spices. And they only feel appropriate at this time of the year!
I did something this past week that I’ve been meaning to do for a LONG time. I created a pumpkin spice essential oil blend! My essential oil company, doTERRA, has many wonderful blends, but they have not come out (yet) with a pumpkin spice blend. So, I took matters into my own hands and created my own!
It was quite simple, as it is with creating any other blend. I chose the appropriate oils, carefully put the drops into a little dram, and boom! Pumpkin spice magic! It really is that simple. I know essential oils can feel daunting but they don’t have to be. (Forgive me if I’ve contributed to that notion! I can easily get caught up in all the details and science of it all.)
So what oils did I use? Here they are:
I combined these oils in equal amounts in a little sample bottle (aka 1/4 “dram”). However, you can use whatever size you’d like. I’d prefer a larger dram because I am using it so often and I’ll have to make another batch soon!
For use in a homemade pumpkin spice latte, just one drop of this blend gives a great flavor. If you’d like nutmeg in there, I suggest a sprinkle of the powder spice since doTERRA does not have nutmeg essential oil (yet). Another option is to use mace spice powder, since it comes from the same plant as nutmeg.
You can also use this pumpkin spice essential oil blend in other recipes: pumpkin pie, pudding, muffins — any recipe that calls for “pumpkin spice.” For a larger recipe like a pie, I’d add two drops. For you doTERRA business builders, this blend is a great one to make for potential or new customers! Remember that it can also be used for diffusing, instead of lighting potentially hazardous candles. You could also make a rollerball bottle from this blend if you want to smell like pumpkin spice yourself!
If you’re reading this, you probably already use essential oils. However, if you’re someone who is not or who is not using doTERRA and would like to learn more, I’d love it if you reached out! I have a limited availability of appointments each week because of being in nursing school. I sit down with people (either in person or virtually via phone or video chat), and I tell you about the doTERRA company, the most popular oils, and how you can personally use them. You don’t have to buy anything, but if you see something you like, I will help you get it. Sound like a plan? Comment below or email me at email@example.com so we can get started!
